The Idol of Pomos, is a prehistoric sculpture from the Cypriot village of Pomos. It dates from the Chalcolithic period, around the 30th century BC. The pagan sculpture depicts a woman with outstretched arms and represents a fertility or mother goddess as a cult image. These idols were worn as amulets around the neck, ebeso as this idol wears a miniature version of itself. More than a hundred cross figurines have now been discovered, made in southwestern Cyprus in the period 3000-2500 BC.

Each pendant is handmade by the brothers, George and Panagiotis, in the picturesque village of Lefkara in their workshop which has been in operation since 1968.

Das Idol von Pomos, ist eine prähistorische Skulptur aus dem zypriotischen Dorf Pomos. Sie stammt aus der chalkolithischen Periode, etwa aus dem 30. Jahrhundert vor Christus. Die heidnische Skulptur stellt eine Frau mit ausgebreiteten Armen dar und repräsentiert als Kultbild eine Fruchtbarkeits- oder Muttergöttin. Diese Idole wurden als Amulette um den Hals getragen, ebeso wie dieses Idol eine Miniaturversion von sich selbst trägt. Mittlerweile wurden über hundert Kreuzfiguren entdeckt, die im Südwesten Zyperns in der Zeit von 3000-2500 v. Chr. hergestellt wurden.

Jeder Anhänger wird von den Brüdern, George und Panagiotis, im malerischen Dorf Lefkara in ihrer seit 1968 betriebenen Werkstatt von Hand gefertigt.
